| Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabek (Gull Bay First Nation) | |  Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabek (Gull Bay First Nation) is an Ojibway community located on the western shore of Lake Nipigon, approximately 200 km north of Thunder Bay up Highway 527. It has a membership of approximately 1,200 members, with 300-400 members living on reserve, and the remaining population living in Thunder Bay and across the region. KZA is a signatory to the Robinson-Superior Treaty of 1850. The boundaries of this treaty span from the Pigeon River border in the west, to Batchawana Bay in the east, and north of Lake Nipigon. KZA has a long, rich history, and continues to practice many of its cultural traditions to this day. Along with a first-rate Government Office, KZA is proud to have recently opened its multi-million dollar health facility, and is moving forward with the development of its natural resources located throughout its traditional territory. KZA is interested in attracting interested people to its territory so that it can offer tourists a taste of traditional Anishinaabek culture, and first-class fishing and hunting opportunities. | | |
