Town of Marathon

Located on the shores of Lake Superior and at the midway point of the Lake Superior Circle Tour between the larger Cities of Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, Marathon is a popular spot with visitors.

Surrounded by towering timber, lakes and rich mineral deposits, the town has a population of just over 4,000.
Besides enjoying the great outdoors, there are opportunities for traditional hunting and fishing, white water canoeing and sea kayaking, golfing, skiing, hiking and snowmobiling on the Superior Snow Challenge Loop and provincial TOPS trail system. Several motels and restaurants are conveniently located along the highway as well as downtown via Peninsula Road. While in Marathon area you will want to be sure to visit the renowned Pukaskwa National Park and recently re-developed Penn Lake Park.
